If this is a lesson for Baby Boomers, tell me again, what am I supposed to be getting out of it?

Thanks, E! They were unique...and so good. The older rappers respect them, e.g., Grandmaster Flash, Big Daddy Kane, etc.-- and in an interview Mos Def said he was influenced by their style--"keepin' it real"... The poetry of the streets...gone for now. You're giving the B.B.'s an opportunity to view some "alternative" rap--because MOST think all hip hop is gangsta/bling/misogynistic crap.

Beverly, it's a survey course of the history of hip-hop so you don't have to be afraid of rappers and hip-hop culture. You get out of it what you bring to it. And we're here to learn, not sell books, so please don't pimp your book/blog in my class again. It's disruptive to the other students who are trying to pay attention.
