30 Rocks!

Having dissed the over-hyped big-budget dream team one-hour behind the scenes dramedic look at TV sketch comedy shows I thought I should give the other one a looksee. Turns out it's not half-bad. Tina Fey, who's SNL work never blew my hair back is really made for sitcommery. It's a quality show. Tracy "I'm-Brian-FELL-owes" Morgan is well cast as is Alec Baldwin. Alec's gotten nice and fat and old and is just right for a TV show. And he found the perfect fit for himself. I imagine the poor lug has to read a bunch of scripts that were written for Jim "the untalented, still-living" Belushi or Tim Allen. I'm glad he waited for this one. The only person who could possibly play the role any better would be Donald Trump. Aaron Sorkin should turn off C-SPAN, eat some mushrooms, and watch 30 Rock to see what fun TV looks like.

Aaron Sorkin does eat mushrooms. And freebases. It doesn't seem to up the humor ante for him any.

I knew it! His writing has that exact manically messianic vibe that you can only get by mixing psilocybin and crack cocaine. But I'm not suggesting he indulge to get funnier. I just think it might be a nice break from the depressing process of watching his big comeback go down in flames.

Word!! I totally agree. However, Sorkin is sober. Apparently he wrote most of the WWing f'd up, but I'm pretty sure he's off the drugs now. That's what Bradley Whitford's character is about on the show; it's based on Sorkin's own drug scandal. So basically you are right, he should go back to shrooms. He used to be funny.

You say it like having a huge ass is a bad thing. I was a hater too, but she's got sitcom chops. She's the solid, straight-lady core around which the insanity swirls. I stand by my assessment. I will however say that the show is far from perfect. When it sucks, it only sucks slightly, and when it's good it's only pretty good. I give it a solid B. And I give Alec Baldwin an Emmy. We can't expect much more from a sitcom in these, the last days of the sitcom.

i like a big rump as much as the next guy, but i don't like the flat and wide variety, of which ms. fey displays. plus i just don't like her, so i like to complaing about things over which she has no control.

Oh man. I just finished the episode over at the NBC site. Now that I got a new computer that streaming video crap actually works like it's supposed to. In part 3 they make fun of Sorkin's walk-n-talks. Brilliant! What to pour salt in the wound. Studio 60 comes back this week with a two-parter! Will it survive long enough to finish the cliff hanger or will going out unresolved be Sorkin's way of saying "fuck you audience, I never liked you anyway, you dumb dumbfaces."
