Judge Dread

Never let it be said that the Flossblog ignores important issues of the day. Perhaps few issues facing this nation right now are as terrifying as the idea of George W. Bush choosing a candidate for the Supreme Court of the United States. Maybe two! Holy freaking shit was my first reaction. I mean, if you forget for a moment that Karl Rove will actually do the picking, can you imagine George W. Bush choosing a successor to Sandra Day O'Connor. Do you think he even has a clue what the Supreme Court does? I guarantee you he couldn't name all nine members of the current SCOTUS and I'd be willing to bet that if asked point blank how many Justices make up the Court he'd guess twelve. Unless the dems can get their shit together and realize that "obstructionist" is probably the nicest thing any Republican is ever going to call you, this country is potentially fucked for a generation or two depending on which wingnut wackjob Bush sticks on the most important judicial body in the world (sorry International Criminal Court, I'm rooting for ya, honest, but you're still behind Judge Judy in this country as far as relevance goes). When I heard O'Connor was retiring I freaked the fuck out.
