Townes Van Zandt

I personally hate country music. I think I have very good reason. In my lifetime, the genre known as Country Music has been a total fucking disgrace. Garth Brooks, Brooks and Dunn, Rascal Flats, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. Faith fucking HIll. You've got to be kidding me. We're supposed to believe that's her real name? These people are disgusting. They bring shame to about a third of our nation which they so stridently demand to represent. The deserve all the scorn they get. The way they've been wrapping themselves in the flag recently has been unbelievably annoying. Like, "you can't hate us, we represent America! Support the troops, asshole!". But real country music. The real hardcore old school shit. That's obviously a national treasure. I admit that. It's undeniable. It's the same with hip-hop. The most amazing rap music tends to be the obsucre unheard stuff that is the opposite of what's on the radio. Pop music no matter what the genre is a sort of grotesque parody of the authentic original. Tonight I saw a movie which reminded me how amazing country music can be.
